Overview of the Ceramic Process

You will hear a short explanation about raw materials and the process of glazing and firing of your pieces.

Preparing Clay Slabs

Each participant will wedge and create their own clay slab and set aside on a quick drying surface.

Botanical Walk and Foraging

Explore the wild landscape of the Quinta to gather endemic plants and natural textures.

Composition

We will cut the slab into the shape you desire and layout a composition of your botanical elements.

Impression

We will press the botanical elements into the clay and gently remove them to reveal the impression.

Ceramic Painting

Using oxides we will color the impression in a way that emphasizes the intricate and delicate impression.

Finishing Touches

It's now time to give your piece last finishing touches, refine the rim, smooth and sign your name.
